The 2019 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipient is Connersville High School senior Alex King.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program provides scholarships to prospective college attendees possessing and demonstrated strong academic and leadership skills.  The Endowment began the Scholarship in 1998 to raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana and increase awareness of the potential of Indiana’s Community Foundations.

The program provides one scholarship for full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

In addition to the requirements set by the Endowment, the Fayette County Foundation has established additional criteria for recipients.
Fayette County Foundation’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship applications will be scored on:

All applications will be reviewed and scored by the Fayette County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Nomination Committee using a predetermined rubric.  The applicants with the highest combined application totals will be invited to interview.  Each applicant will be interviewed by the same committee members who reviewed the applications.  The semi-finalists will be ranked with the highest scoring being nominated to ICI as the finalist and two alternates.

The Fayette County Foundation’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Nomination Committee will review all applications turned in by the deadline in September and will interview finalists in October. The Scholarship Nomination Committee is an independent committee. The committee is chosen to represent a cross-section of Fayette County, including its professional and geographic constituents.
